How do I breathe in a Breathwork Journey? Quick demo of the open mouth conscious connected breath we use in journey.

FAQs

What is a Breathwork Journey like?

The range of experiences is wide, and no two sessions are the same. I encourage people to show up always with an open heart and mind, and let go of reproducing a previous breathwork experience. The beauty and magic of this work is that the experience you have will be led by your sub conscious, your deepest needs and desires.

Physical changes people often experience tingling, heaviness, or cramping (Tetany) or feelings of release and relaxation in the body. It can feel effortful, or energizing. Waves of heat or cold are common, as are waves of lightness or heaviness. People often journey past their busy thinking mind to receive clarity on things they’re working on or bursts of creativity. There can be tears and release of emotional pain, or crying due to overwhelming feelings of love, joy, and connection. Sometimes, people simply feel a profound relaxation and feel rested and restored afterwards.

Who is Breathwork for?

There are breathing patterns to suit and benefit everybody and, as an active meditation practice, Breathwork has no limits. However, when it comes to a Breathwork Journey (activating breath for 20 - 60 minutes or more) it depends on the person. For those working with deep emotional pain, loss or trauma a private session is recommended rather than a group setting. For these clients we begin with a thorough intake and understanding of their physical and emotional needs and embark together on a series of 5-10 breathwork sessions, spaced a couple of weeks apart. These can be a potent time of healing and can also set you up to integrate a more regular practice into your life and to attend group sessions to continue your growth. This is often complimented by professional support - therapy or counselling, yoga practice, bodywork, energy healing, herbal medicine, acupuncture and many other complimentary healing modalities.

There are also a number of medical conditions that are contraindicated for Breathwork:

Cardiovascular Disease
Detached Retina or Glaucoma
Diagnosed Brain or Abdomen Aneurysm Epilepsy
Bipolar or Schizophrenia
Uncontrolled Diabetes
Diagnosed Thyroid Conditions
High Blood Pressure
Pregnancy (early stage or delicate)

If you suffer from one of these conditions you can still do Brethwork but caution is needed and I will give you specific guidance.

If you have any questions about whether Breathwork is for you get in touch.

Is online Breathwork as powerful as an in person experience?

In one word - Yes. It can be very potent in the privacy and comfort of your own home and through a recorded session. The music and guidance delivered through headphones minimises sensory distractions. I’m often amazed at how the group energy travels and themes/experiences open up even through cyberspace. I often feel a deep connection to those I’m guiding online.
In person sessions do have many benefits of course and I practice bodywork to move energy when appropriate as well as being able to feel more subtle shifts. There is nothing our heart calls for more than to gather in circle with other like minded people, so live groups are pretty special!

Can I do Breathwork on my own?

Yes! This is a self-healing practice, and I encourage people to try it out at home if you haven’t yet. Try the free breath pattern videos I offer or buy an on demand breath practice to have a go at a shorter practice at home. The structure and support of an online session or group can be very helpful, but is not necessary.
Many of my clients practice on their own, attend groups and then check in for a private session now every now and then. My goal is to have you using the breath as a tool for your healing and growth and feeling fully equipped to do so.
